Abdoulaye Joof Taken Back to Detention

Quoting family members, Banjul’s local press reports that Mr. Abdoulaye Joof, the businessman who was released on Tuesday 2nd February was again arrested on Wednesday 3rd February. Mr. Joof has been in detention since November 2009 when he was picked up by NIA agents along with former Chief of Defense Staff Lang Tombong Tamba. The Gambia Journal learnt that Mr. Joof was re-arrested while seeking undisclosed medical help at the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital in Banjul. Mr. Joof was released along with Ex-Brigadier General Omar Bun Mbye on Tuesday but the former military officer has not been reported re-arrested.
