French Gambian Military Exercise

Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font

Visiting French and Gambian soldiers on Thursday March 11th conducted a joint amphibian training on strip of the Gambian coastline. According to the head of the Gambian contingent the training is aimed at training his men on how to secure a coastal bridgehead after it had been seized by imagined enemy forces. It is not known what makes the French government gives military assistance to a government with so poor a human rights record that even France says it detests. The former colonial power Britain also regularly gives military training assistance to the Jammeh government despite this and despite the fact that Britain has been President Jammeh’s punching bag when delivering his Anti-Western rhetoric.
