Friday 21st July 2006

The three members of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) who were recently arrested and detained at the Yundum Police Station were on Wednesday released, impeccable sources informed The Point.

Our sources however could not ascertain whether the released officials were charged with any offence.

It would be recalled that the three officials, Amie Jarju, Momodou Jaw and Baba Drammeh were arrested on Monday shortly after reporting at work at the IEC Brikama Office.

Both IEC Operations Director, Samboujang Jagne, and Police spokesperson Aziz Bojang confirmed the arrest of the three to a local newspaper.
