STATEMENT BY THE UDP/NRP ALLIANCE NEW YORK ON THE (GPDP) JOINING THE UDP/NRP ALLIANCE:
Gambians and the world community, you are being informed that today, August 31, 2006, the Secretary General and Party leader of The Gambia Party for Democracy and progress (GPDP) Mr. Hendry Gomez has official joined the UDP/NRP Alliance. Therefore, the UDP/NRP Alliance is now call ALLIANCE for REGIME CHANGE (ARC).
Mr. Gomez disclosed his patriotism decision this morning at the UDP/NRP Alliance Bureau when he came with his party supporters to let the Gambians know that he is not hungry for power but wants a Democratic and Just Gambia. He said that he has no condition for joining the UDP/NRP Alliance other than putting his party’s weight on The Gambia most likely opposition parties to effect change.
Mr. Gomez was a Presidential Aspirant who was disqualified during the very day of the nomination process by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC). At the IEC, he told Gambians that the (APRC) knows that his party was a treat to them and he can defeat President Jammeh’s regime if he was allow to contest but he left everything in the hands of the Almighty God.
The Alliance Presidential Candidate Lawyer Ousainou Darboe and Hamat Bah gave Mr. Gomez a warm welcome and thanked him for the patriotism move. Mr. Darboe said, today this Alliance is greater than UDP and NRP because it is controlled by the majority of Gambians who wish the country for a better change and social justice.
Finally, Mr. Darboe told the gathering that this Alliance for Regime Change (ARC) is genuinely committed to democracy, rule of law, and will place special emphasis on national united and empowerment of the people.
We join the UDP/NRP National Executive in welcoming the (GPDP) Party.
